Turning connected (team) fundraising on and off

In addition to a standard fundraiser, you can also create an umbrella team or event fundraiser. This means that others can link their own fundraiser to the team or event fundraiser. The donations from the linked fundraisers are all added together to the team or event fundraiser. You can turn this feature on or off on any fundraising page.

Go to the fundraiser of which you want to change the setting (make sure you are logged in to your account)
Click on the pencil icon next to the title and description
Activate or deactivate the 'Allow connected fundraisers'

What does it cost to use WhyDonate?

WhyDonate is free and charges 0% platform fees, no sign-up fees, and no monthly costs. Therefore, it is the most affordable donation platform.

WhyDonate's payment provider charges a fee for payment processing. These costs are passed on to the recipient of the donations and are as follows:

WhyDonate enables fundraisers to be initiated from 118 countries across the globe. In order to register and receive donations, users need to provide an ID and valid bank account number. WhyDonate is accessible to both individuals and organisations. Furthermore, donations can be made from any location across the globe.

When will the donations be paid out?

It takes 7 days before the donations get cleared for payout. Within your WhyDonate account, you can choose whether donations are paid out weekly, monthly or directly by clicking the 'payout now' button in your balance. The payouts are done by our payment service provider, Stripe.

Depending on your bank, it may take up to 2 business days longer for the money to arrive.

Do I have to pay taxes on the donations received?

In most cases, receiving donations is tax-free, but there are cases where you have to pay taxes on the donations received. The amount and the relationship with the donor are matters that determine whether you should pay tax on your donation or not.

Every country has different tax laws. So, contact your country's tax authorities for more clarity.

According to Dutch Tax Rules - If you receive multiple donations in one year, you do not have to add them together if they come from different people.

There are 2 exceptions to this rule. Add the donations together if:

The donors or the recipients are partners (Find out if the donors or recipients are partners)
The donors are your parents, even if they are divorced

What happens if I don't collect my donation target amount?

Accepted Answer

We will always pay you all the donations you have received, even if you don’t reach your target amount. We, of course, hope and help you to reach your goal!
